Jordan Malutshi, 17, collapsed after being stabbed in the heart and died later in hospital.
Clubbers said they did not realise anything had happened until the victim fell to the floor.
Jordan was said to have been part of a group from London who had travelled to the Face Bar in Reading, Berks.
The killer, also thought to have been part of the group, escaped as 999 crews were called to the scene just before 4am.
Around 150 revellers, most of them regulars, were there for a set from BBC Radio One Extra DJ Young Lion.
One clubber said: "There's never been anything like this here."
A murder hunt has been launched.
The club was cordoned off yesterday as a forensic search was carried out.
